Native to southern part of China, the species isfairly common in Asakawa River basin. The size is about the same as sparrow;with its red bill, yellow-orange throat, yellow and red spots on wings, itmay look like a southern bird. Observed in various places: near Mt. Takao,parks on hilly areas like Komiya Park, and near private houses. In somecases, they form a flock of several dozen and move around.
