ResemblesWater Pipit, but Olive-backed Pipit is mainly observed in forests, forestedges, and shrubs, while Water Pipit is often seen in riverbanks and wetland. This is not, however, a decisive distingushing point, because thelatter is sometimes found in forests. Externally, Water Pipit has no whitespot behind ear that Olive-backed Pipit has – a distinctive field mark. Thespecies is mainly observed during autumn/winter season in Asakawa Riverbasin; it will spend the rest of the seasons in the north or in mountainforests where it will migrate.
