Most familiarwild bird in Japan since early times, and, according to our research, thespecies ranks first in the number of birds observed in Asakawa River basin.Our general investigation of winter birds made in January 2011 recorded atotal of 1,643 tree sparrows at all observation points together. Althoughthe species rarely attracts attention because of its abundant number, it hasa rather nice colour combination. Breeds near the areas of human habitationand deftly takes advantage of all available human life resources.
