Commonresident in Asakawa River basin, and can be seen throughout the year. Asindicated in its Japanese name meaning "long tail," the speciesf diagnosticfeature is its long tail, nearly half of its total length.  With its blackcap, blue wings and tail, its plumage is good-looking, but when hearing itshoarse voice queei or gei, one is rather discouraged. Common bird in theneighbourhood of urban district; the species has a habit of transferringbetween trees in small flocks of several birds flying one by one. Commonresident in northern Honshu, but no habitat in Kansai area (borderline beingaround Fukui, Gifu and Aichi Prefectures).  We hear some birders in Kansaiarea come all the way to see the species.
