In AsakawaRiver Basin, the species is observed mainly in May and August; in May on itsway heading north to breeding ground, while stopping over in August on itsway back to Southeast Asia and Australia for wintering. Although the speciesvisits Asakawa River regularly, we come across the bird only for a shortperiod of time. They are usually found in a group from several to more thana dozen birds here. Easily found by its diagnostic call "pyuee pyuee."
