Smallestplover in Japan with its distinctive yellow eye-ring. Common summer visitorin the midstream of Asakawa River coming in March, and after breeding andraising, leaves for the south around August. In the downstream of AsakawaRiver, however, its stay is about one month later than the above inmidstream. Our record shows that some of the species pass the winter here.Often seen foraging at dry riverbed of sluggish streams. During breedingseason, the species flies around above the stream with a loud call. Breedson gravels of dry riverbed.
