Largest white egrets in Japan; all plumage white.@Though less common than Little Egret, they are rather common in mid- to down-stream of Asakawa River.@ Yellow bill in winter, but bill turns to black in summer with bluish-green lores. In summer, long plumes droop from neck to breast and on back. Black legs and feet in summer and in winter. Mainly feeds on fish, but sometimes eats frogs and lizards.
