Migrates to Asakawa River basin in May; Sometimes seen in rice paddies at Takatsuki, etc.; stays for a rather short period. Although its plumage is all white, the birdfs head, neck, and back turn buffy orange in summer, hence its name gama-sagihin Japanese (gamahmeansgtow-coloredhin Japanese). Smaller than Little Egret, with shorter yellow bill.
