Uncommon winter visitor. Uncommon visitor inslow-flowing mid- to down-stream of Asakawa River, and a pond at TakatsukiWater Treatment Plant, where several birds visit every year. Male’siridescent brown head with broad glossy dark green band curving to nape,reminiscent of Napoleon hat, is conspicuous.　Falcated tertials in flight isalso distinguishing mark.
